Maybe you’ve played sports all your life, run a fantasy league, or set out no matter the weather to hike, paddle, or ride. If so, the Sports & Recreation Management major at Franklin Pierce will prepare you for a career that might feel more like a passion than a job. You’ll understand the demands of managing a recreation program/facility or working as part of a sports organization and learn the networking skills you need to be successful. Franklin Pierce is the only New Hampshire university with business programs accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). Franklin Pierce offers a 3-year accelerated programs as well as 3+1 and 4+1 options which allows students to earn their undergraduate and master’s degree in less time, entering the workforce sooner. In this major you’ll study core business concepts and learn the principles of program development, event planning, marketing, and evaluation.

At the graduate level, you will examine best business practices, while developing leadership, and more advanced media, marketing, technology, and operations management skills. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Sports Management is offered 100% online.

Master of Business AdministratioN (MBA)
Sports Management tRACK
The MBA in Sports Management degree provides students with the sports management skills essential for success and advancement in the sports industry. The program focuses on specific content areas to manage the operations of sport facilities, develop effective sports merchandising programs, and run sport specific organizations with high precision.
The action-oriented, skills-based curriculum supports 91³Ô¹Ï students with the development of solid and distinctive skills leading to future career success. This degree consists of 10 courses and awards 30 credits. Students will develop a master’s level understanding of business in the sports industry.
This distinctive focus allows graduates to become talented leaders as sports business managers, facilities managers, sports merchandisers, and leaders in various sports venues.
The MBA Sports Management Track includes 7 core courses and 3 specialized courses in your concentration.

Graduate Certificates
Graduate Certificates programs designed for working professionals. Through the completion of five graduate courses, students will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to lead and advance organizations.
The graduate certificate consists of 5 courses and awards a total of 15 credits. Certificates can be completed in as little as 6 months. Average time to completion is 7 - 8 months.

Our MBA and Graduate Certificate are designed for working professionals. Your coursework will present concepts in practical and quantitative terms, so that you can apply them to the workplace immediately.
Cody was a sports management major and captain of the 91³Ô¹Ï baseball team graduating in 2012. Since then, he has earned a masters degree in business management at FPU while coordinating player video and analysis in the Chicago Cubs minor league system and being an assistant coach at his alma mater. In the summer of 2014, he served as the coordinator of the USA national collegiate team traveling with the team to tournaments in the Netherlands and Cuba. In the off-season, he works as a private baseball trainer giving private lessons to young players. In January of 2015, Cody was hired again by USA Baseball to be the Director of the 12U national team, the next step in his professional baseball career.
